EdgeWise was created to meet the unique needs of organizations and individuals serious about pushing the edges of what holds them back. Modernization, innovation, and transformative growth all share one thing, the unknown. Stepping up to and past the edges of what is known and familiar takes courage, clarity of purpose, awareness, and skill. Support helps too... that is where we come in.
As a leader herself within complex and mission driven organizations, Jan gets the realities her clients face every day. Clients describe her approach as an effective mix of clarity and wisdom delivered in a manner that is as direct and bold as it is warm, authentic, and fun.
For over 20 years, Jan has worked with individual leaders, teams, and organizations within both private and public sectors, including intelligence, defense, healthcare, and commercial entities. She is a thought and practice leader integrating coaching with change management practices as well as transformative development, also known as Vertical Development.
Jan currently leads the Mission Enablement practice with Digital Mobilizations, and has held leadership roles with Korn Ferry's Government Division, ICF International, CMG Associates.
A fellow with the Institute of Coaching, Jan has presented nationally and internationally. She received the ‘Distinction in Teaching’ award for her work teaching at Harvard University, and is a sought after facilitator and consultant.
Credentialed as a Master Certified Coach (MCC), Jan holds post-graduate certificates in Organizational Development and Systems Therapy. She is also on faculty with New Ventures West Integral Coach Training and is a certified Mindfulness Meditation instructor.
Most importantly, Jan, her husband Chick and their now adult kids continue to find teachers in one another.
WHAT IS VERTICAL DEVELOPMENT
Vertical development is about building capacity to see, understand, empathize and respond in a greater variety of ways and situations. Just as gaining a skill or new knowledge can be like filling a cup, vertical capacity building expands the cup itself, so it can hold more.
Evidence suggests that later stages of vertical maturity are needed to navigate complexity and constant change.
Also called transformative growth or Adult Stage Development, research over 4 decades has mapped a predictable sequence of stages that we move through on the vertical path. Each stage is an expansion on the previous, creating greater access to different ways of thinking, being, doing, and relating.
Understanding the stages of development and one's "center of gravity"
along the stages helps with identifying edges, paths, and practices for growth.
The Maturity Assessment Profile (MAP) is one of the most rigorously validated vertical development assessment. The Leadership Circle also tracks with Adult Stage Development and is a widely used 360 assessment.
Part of a very small group of certified scorers and coaches, Jan integrates the MAP and Leadership Circle. For more information about Vertical Development, program delivery, or the MAP assessment, contact Jan and firstname.lastname@example.org.
